"When you 'decide' to improve, there will always be opposition -
it's up to you to give in or conquer" Kc
Have you ever decided to change a habit or make a positive lifestyle choice, only to find challenges beset you from every angle?
This week I decided to be punctual. Moreover, I decided that since my strategy had never worked, I’d use my husband’s (he’s always early – unless he’s with me!).
I had 2 meetings at opposite ends of the city. I decided a quiet train ride would be great. I could catch up on reading and not have to worry about traffic and parking in the city. I checked the train timetable and using my husband’s strategy, calculated the time it would take to get ready, drive to the station, park, then subtracted that from the train departure time.
It was an entirely new experience, working backwards to be early – and it worked..... almost! I raced out the door with seconds to spare, parked the car about 3 kilometres from the station (I'd forgotten to calculate in the fact that there'd be no carspaces in the station carpark at 10am) - and then did a sprint that would have rivalled my PB ten years ago.
I raced down to the platform with seconds to spare – I’d arrived, breathless but .... on time. Then an announcement came over the loudspeaker– the train was running 20 minutes late!
In the game of life, there will always be curved balls - you'll be challenged whenever you make a decision to change. You have a choice right then and there. You can pursue what it is you want – or go back to doing what you’ve always done and getting what you’ve always had.
There will always be infinite possibilities – you just have to make sure you stay on the path of the one you really want. That takes commitment to the change you want, focusing on the bigger picture when challenged and continuing to get up and give it another go with the best strategy you know.
As it turned out, I did make it to both meetings on time AND managed to do my daily exercise as a bonus! I also learnt another powerful strategy to be more successful next time - factor in the unexpected and enjoy the ride.

I'd like to ask if you do not mind. I was curious to know how you center yourself and clear your head before writing. I've had a tough time clearing my thoughts in getting my thoughts out.
I truly do enjoy writing however it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes
tend to be wasted simply just trying to figure out how to begin.
Any suggestions or tips? Cheers!
